The Formula To Freedom

by Danielle Zack on August 6, 2010

When I started out in network marketing my ultimate goal was to create freedom for myself and my family. Time Freedom and Financial Freedom. For most newbie network marketers, that is their ultimate goal as well. I was clear on my vision, but what I wasn’t clear about was the Formula to Achieve that Freedom.

Over time it became very apparent to me exactly how I was going to win in network marketing, by Paying it Forward. I started out with a mindset of selfishness. Everyone I talked to was a prospect. I sought people out just to pitch them my opportunity and my products. As you can imagine, I did NOT get very far. As for those that did join my business, they left just as quick when they foud out that I was not offering any training or value for them.

Once I learned the principle of ‘Paying-it Forward’, my entire business changed.

The always inspiring Kellie Hosaka discussed this topic in her recent post ‘Do You Know That Paying it Forward is Your Formula to Freedom?‘ She really broke the freedom formula down and what it takes to create a Network Marketing Team that builds themselves, so you do not have to work forever.

The idea is plain and simple. We have all heard the saying “If you give a man a fish, he will eat for a day. If you teach a man to fish, he will eat for a lifetime.” When you build your team, you can’t do all the work! Every bit of your effort has to be focused on teaching your team to fish or sponsor new team mates on their own. Then their people will teach this to their people and so on… This is the process of duplication and the magic of compounding. This magic is what allows your business to grow and flourish consistently.

If you can not ‘Pay it Forward’ to your people by teaching them the steps to do exactly what you did, then you are wasting your time. It makes no sense at all to be selfish in this business. Selfishness gets you kicked out. When we learn to give by teaching others everything we know, they will flourish and we will flourish in turn. Potential prospects will be drawn to you because of the positive light and energy to give to the world.

A True Leader is first and foremost, a teacher.

Make sure to remember that your Formula to Freedom is always ‘Paying It Forward’, however you are able.

Danielle,

My response is a very simple one: the personal aspect of your brief lesson. This, to me, is what stood out: “Once I learned the principle of ‘Paying-it Forward’, my entire business changed.”

Naturally, I resonate with the aspects of teaching and giving well.

Thank for sharing and all the best to you as you continue to teach others how to fish for themselves and become teachers as well,

Lee

Hi Danielle,

I love the pay it forward concept especially if we just do it without thinking what we could get in return. Be generous for the sake of generosity. With that said, I don’t think we should allow others to take advantage of us though. The rules of reciprocity evolves organically when everyone is generous.

I had read Kellie’s post and I am so glad you are posting your view on it here. This is one of my greatest passions and why I have been an advocate of network marketing now for 27 years.

Only through linking arms with those we bring into the business and empowering them to accomplish their goals can long term success be attain and sustained.

Check out Stephanie Tanner’s post. On the power of triangles in your business. It is another angle on the same concept of creating an environment of success for your team members.

Danielle, I just love that saying:“If you give a man a fish, he will eat for a day. If you teach a man to fish, he will eat for a lifetime.” Being a leader in any industry is to teach. Otherwise we are enabling people to be “needy” and not stand on their own two feet and blossom into greatness. Everyone has Greatness! We just have to show them how.

Great post and Fabulous saying
Blessings

Great post Danielle, I was in the same boat. Only thinking of myself when I jumped online to start doing internet network marketing. Now a year later I have figured out that issue, I have to pay it forward and it works. Imagine that, lol pay it forward and great things will happen. Great post again Danielle

Hi Danielle,

This is a lovely post that is a testament to your generosity of spirit. Most people have trouble paying it forward over any period of time, because it is hard to trust that giving it all away will result in abundance for us. Yet, that is exactly what happens. Maybe it is because once we are in the mode of giving, it doesn’t matter any more if we get something back. The true abundance is in the way our hearts grow.

I love the movie clip and I remember it well. Thanks for sharing this aspect of your success.

Hey Danielle,
You have definitely got the right idea about paying it forward. I think that is what actually attracts people to what you have to offer. And I like the idea of teaching a man to fish rather than just giving him a fish.
